About "Giant Killers."

Today is my second grandson’s birthday. He has made a lot of plans for a busy 22 year old. I am so proud of him and certainly my prayers included those plans. But I said something in my morning conversation with my Lord that stopped me short. I texted him early about it as I prayed him a wonderful birthday celebration.

I love all my grandchildren, but today I will focus on him. I was impressed to ask God to make him a “giant killer.” Yes, I’m thinkin of David and the infamous Goliath.

Maybe my heart went that way because I’m teaching 1 Samuel ( we’re on ole salted dog Saul right now) or because he is red headed (Bible word for that is ruddy), or because I see a lot of giants coming his way in just a few months. (Graduation from college, military service, marriage, dental school.) I was urgent in my prayer this morning for my big man grandson this morning.

He was raised right and he behaves right And he loves his PawPaw. (Both of them) His parents did a good job investing the “valuable” stuff in him. But… I think David was a little taken back as he approached his first giant and watched his bigger brothers. I know the story well, really well. So I prayed about the giants in life. You do know there are still giants in the land, don’t you?

I pray that my God will allow him to detect the giants in his life. I pray the he would learn, the easy way, not to delay the pursuit of giants in his life. The longer you delay the louder they get. I pray God would teach him how to dispose AND destroy the giants in life. They are not the same.

The next several days I want to get personal and talk more with my birthday grandson on each of these topics if I could? Got to go to PT.

You know what to do if you like this stuff. To my blog readers, until I get this "blogging" site tweaked you can email me on my personal acc at mijeholcomb@hotmail.com.
