First let give you some facts:
A smile is a universal expression of happiness and recognize as such by all cultures.
A smiling person is judged to be more pleasant, attractive, sincere, sociable, and competent.
It takes only 17 muscles to smile compared to 43 muscles to frown.
Adults laugh approximately 15 times per day, while children laugh about 400 times a day.
Women smile more than men.
One of the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease is that it is very very difficult to smile.
According to the facts we all should do a lot more smiling. Even if you are a dufuss because according to #2 you can trick people into thinking you’re competent. Now, I know that none of the readers of “Been Thinkin” are dufuses, but you know one and some of us are kin to one. (Yes, it’s that person you just thought about!) Did I make you smile? I love to think/type the word “dufuss”, it is soo funny. (I can’t help it, I’m smiling).
While it’s on my mind, let me say I certainly know about #6. Before I got to a neurologist I could not smile without my total concentration, l mean total. I am a smiler, a happy guy, but smile I had difficulty with. But after I started on the medication for my brain it was back to normal. As I type this I’m smiling. I mean big time 😃!
I did not write that last paragraph for pity because I want to write to inform, encourage and to teach.
There is a book I use from time to time called “Every Monday Matters” by Emerzian & Bozza. It’s a sugession of 52 Mondays and using that day to make a difference. They say if you are having trouble smiling they suggest that you should;
Make faces in the mirror.
Shake your body like it’s laughing from the inside.
Jump on the bed.
Hug someone you love.
Visit the pet store.
Say the word>……..Dufuss.
Ok, #6 isn’t on their list but I tried all that they suggested.
I looked in the mirror made a face and I looked like a dufuss. I shook my body like I was laughing on the inside which caused my gut to growl…you guessed it—-dufuss. So I jumped on the bed which made it fall which brought Jean in screaming you……. Dufuss!! I tried to hug her and she said don’t do that dufuss. Then I left went to the pet store saw some cute kittens and reached in the cage to pet them & one of them bit me. It caused me to knock the cage over and the manager escorted me out the door and you know what she called me? >…….idiot!*😬
Now don’t you(q) feel better after all that smiling? Smiling is contagious, so if you enjoyed this little blog Share it, hit the button. Also let me know by liking or whatever. If you did not smile after reading this you could be a….
