Been Thinkin About"My Disdain."

These are some things I have disdain for, that is a polite word for "I can't stand."This is a uncommon list of pet peeves of mine.

1. I get upset over folks who drive 40 mph in a 50 mph zone. I run into that all the time on the street that leads me wherever i want to go. No, I am not the guy that will holler, blow the horn, nor run them off the road. I am the guy who will safely pass you gritting my teeth.

2. I should have put this #1 but I wanted to think about it before I talked about it because this doesn't bother some folks. I disdain being late! can't stand it. I really get bent out of shape if I am late, not you but me. i was raised in a family that believed that if you were 10 minutes early, you were 15 minutes late. my precious bride does NOT think that way. That is why you will find us driving two cars to the same location.

3. I do not change dirty diapers well. I changed the diapers of my sisters and brother 9-11 years younger than I. I helped change the diapers on my children. But something happened to me when it came to my Grandchildren, I just didn't do it if possible. The last time I changed a diaper was a few years ago and it took out a newspaper, a towel, a sack of handywipes (which aint handy, btw) and wet washcloth. Lord! I'm not saying i won't do but I am saying there would be lots of love involved.

4. It upsets me to see Hospitality People get chewed out. Everyone has a bad day but do not use it to demean any one whose job it is to serve you. My Mom use to work at the old Jeff Davis Restaurant on Noble back in the day and came home to take care of 4 kids and sometimes crying. I really believe it is our legacy to be kind to those who serve us. Even those who have bad days, even those who spill a whole glass of Southern sweet tea directly in your lap. Hoowee that was cold and sticky.

5. Cussing, any kind disturbs me, ESPECIALLY around my wife or daughters. I know many have not been raised that way and I feel sorry for them. Included in that are Presidents, Actors, Actress, Music stars, and even Kin Folk. I also realize many are just ignorant of the English language. It is a terrible habit that makes me glad that I live in the South. I do not have angelic ears but I do have respect for you.

6. Rude People who insult you or threaten you and you Pay them. I had a Dr. who was very rude to me when, in great distress, ask him about my wife's condition while in the hospital. I'm guessing he took me for the wrong client but I was wrong, he was just rude. So I fired my wife's Dr. I did get someone else to take care of her, this point is worth the read...IF You don't take care and watch your family who can't take care of themselves, WHO WILL? I do need to say I have never had a rude Dr. before or since.

7. I hate Hackers, Child Molesters, Sellers of Children and/or Women, people who make a living out of taking advantage of people by choice. My word, this thing got seriously serious. I know that those people get what they deserve and worse sooner or later.

8. That last one makes me want to lighten up on the next ones left. I do not care for Lazy People. I know that God can and will use anyone but a lazy person. Lazy folks give lame excuses for the situation they are in and know this, the only ones upset with this is lazy people.

9. It bothers me when you ask me to give you money while smoking, sitting in a semi-new pickup while talking on your phone. My common sense and Saks High School math tells me you will not take care of any $ I give you..I'll add that on my waitress tip that's having a bad day.(see #4)

10. Folks who get up and walk out of Church while the sermon is being delivered. Please hear me out. I realize some have to get up because of the bathroom or choking/coughing. But if that is a weekly deal sit on the Baptist bench in the back. I do believe there are those who just get up to get up. It disturbs the pastor, the people, and sometimes the sleepers.

I was driving to church this morning, by myself when I thought of some of this Been Thinkin. My daughter talked to me earlier and told me that since I am now doing a blog it reaches a different crowd and they can offend you. I reminded her that i was a pastor for over 35 years. I had deacons!😁
