Been Thinkin “When You Snooze You Lose”;

My Dad use to say, “when you snooze you lose,” a lot. Consequently,I say it too. For me it meant don’t procrastinate. We tend to do that when we have a giant problem that needs conquering. My big question today is WHY? Why do we delay tackling this giant?

John Maxwell (The Difference Maker) says,”problems are everywhere, and everybody has some. “

He gives a great illustration of what I want to talk about today. “A man living in New York got up early one morning, and before he was able to leave home for the day, he received four long-distance phone calls from clients who had problems—every one of whom wanted him to hop on a plane to try to fix them. He finally got dressed and went to the kitchen where he received two more calls, this time from local clients. He told his wife he was skipping breakfast, and went down and hailed a cab.

“All right, let’s get going,” he hollered as he jumped in. “Where do you want me to take you?” Asked the cabbie.

“I don’t care,” replied the man. “I’ve got problems everywhere.”

I certainly have been in that man’s shoes, haven’t you? As a business owner, a husband, a dad, I had giants everywhere! Then when I was called into the ministry to pastor churches all my problems just disappeared—-NO WAY!! Those problems came with problems. They were Big Giants, Goliath size.

The truth is you can pick any person living or dead, and if you search you will discover they had/have giants. They are inescapable. All Gods children have giants.

I believe like Maxwell says, “Our Perspective on the problem, NOT the problem itself, usually determines our success or failure.

So for the next few conversations let’s look at what would cause you to delay going after your giant, what’s slowing you down? Why are some of the giants long-term-friends? Some how you’ve made a treaty of the giant?

I want to show you how that “before” David could get at Goliath the giant he had to settle some issues. These issues postponed his dealing with the giant—-It Could Be you are dealing with the same issues.

Why not read the event in 1 Samuel 17 as we talk about knocking out some little giants before we go after Goliath. It really is our Perspective on the problem, not the problem.

Got to go do some praying and “listening” before I go out to meet some giants this morning. I’m not omniscient,so I don’t know all of you, nor your giant, but I know Someone who is so I am praying for you. Until later… post content
